off roading air compressor

There’s a lot of debate about which compressor is best for off-roading and what not. There are so many things to consider and I’ll leave most of the in-depth analysis up to you with some possible choices. Some things to consider when looking at compressors: standard psi, max psi, size, weight, power draw, noise level (DB), duty cycle.

  • Max psi is the max pressure that can be achieved by the compressor, this is different than standard psi which is the normal operating pressure of the system (this number will always be lower). Our trucks are built to operate on 100psi, so it’s probably not a good idea to get something that blows past that number. Generally the more standard psi you have the less efficient your compressor is.
  • Size can be an issue if it’s large and bulky, but depending on where you mount it you may not care or it might even help with aerodynamics by either removing weight from the bed or helping to reduce drag.
  • Weight is pretty self-explanatory, but if you’re an overlander or wheeler then the weight isn’t that big of a deal.
  • Power draw can be important if you have to run your power wire further than the length of the cord, but generally, nobody has the money for extra-long 100ft cords so this isn’t much of an issue.
  • Noise is important for some people, but with the amount of noise, our trucks make it doesn’t matter if your compressor makes a little more.
  • Duty cycle means how long you can use it continuously without overheating. Generally, most won’t matter because you will only be using it for punctures and then putting your compressor away.
  • Standard psi: anything from 100-130 should do fine depending on what you need.

What is an onboard air compressor?

What compressor do I need for my car tires? What size air compressor do I need for my bike? What is a good air compressor to use off-road? What kind of compressor should I get for airing up my truck/car/off-road vehicle? What is the best onboard air system for a vehicle tire inflation system What is the best system for a tire inflation system What is a good compressor? What is a good air compressor to use in my garage What would you recommend for a compressor What is the best type of compressor What’s the best brand of air compression? What is the best type/model of an onboard air compressor What do I need for my car tires What kind of compressor do you recommend What size compressor should I get What is the best type of compressor What kind of compressor What type/model of air compressor What are some good compressors What are some good brands?

We recommend choosing a product from a specialized company but at an average price. Otherwise, we may get an inferior product that makes a lot of noise but any use of it is long and inconvenient to work with, or will not be able to withstand the load and heat up beyond learning. On the other hand, there are excellent products but with an unreasonable price threshold for our perception. Therefore our recommendation for a good formula for choosing a car air compressor: go for a specialized brand and take its intermediate product (of course that meets your vehicle type and use)
